The Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2 Aerocoupe was a limited edition NASCAR homologation special with an aerodynamic nose and rear bubble glass to help the GM's NASCAR shape be a bit more slippery. The Aerocoupe fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. Find this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! bidding on ebay for $2,650 with an hours to go.

The Grand Prix 2+2 Aerocoupe is a rare bird, with only 1200 examples made for a single model year - but it is rear because nobody wants it. It is sort of like the Polio of automobiles, extinct for a reason.

Kinja'd!!!

The front end sort of resembles Julie Chen before she had eye surgery, and not in a good way. Why would a single person have paid the $8,000 premium for a 150 horsepower Chevy 5.0 V8 wrapped in this grey cloud of misery completely escapes us.

Kinja'd!!!

At first I was going to rant about how this is the only car to make a 1st gen Barracuda rear glass look good...but you know what...I've changed my mind. This thing packs as much questionable cool into a 4-wheeled package as any wood bodied Volkswagen. It is only missing a gigantic number from your favorite NASCAR driver on the sides.

I'd rock it if it were a notchback. That front end CAN look alright if the car is lowered and an air dam or lip spoiler of some sort is added.

EDIT: in fact, for the money this is absolutely perfect. Do an FI SBC engine swap and stiffen the suspension and chassis a bit and you've got a very cheap track/AutoX car.

It looks like a video game knock-off ... not so good.

I begrudgingly agree that if you were in the market for a sub $3k, slow, unique looking, low volume, 80s, "collector" car...well...its either this or the Lumina Eurosport..and those are hard to find.

Agreed on fastback being better. As a "coupe" the trunk opening is small and oddly shaped.

How do you even get the spare of shame out of there? And will the full sized flat tire fit through the opening?

Interesting variation on the Monte Carlo. I hope the women are not included in the deal. :)

I'd argue that this is a fastback. This is a notchback:

Oh man I would definitly buy a nice early 90's z34, never liked the 4 door eurosport much. but if I had to choose, hmm. I'd take this! a the body seems decent and the interior is decent. A little work in the garage and the slowness can be fixed. How dope would it be to show up anywhere in this! way doper then a lumina of any ilk that I can promise!

I've always kind of liked these. I like funky/ugly stuff as evidenced by my ex-wifes unfortunate looks. She was an ugly bitch who continues to make my life miserable, maybe I should rethink my taste in everything....

I was fond of G Bodies back in the day. But theGreand Prix was always the ugly duckling of the group.

In that era, the NASCAR cars actually still resembled the street cars. So it was kind of cool to have a street car that existed to legalize some racing parts, even if the rest of the car was rather lame.

You need to see the beauty in this car..
In my area EVERY G body, including some 4 doors, has been hacked into one of three things.
1. A "ShowStoppa" rolling on 26" rims and suspensions made of bungee cords and unistrut with paint jobs that have more metal flake than a 80s Bass Boat.
2. A half assed "Race Car", usually for sale, always unfinished with an over cammed smog small block and a paint job that has more Orange Peel than Florida has Oranges.
3. The "Rat Rod". It hasn't run in years, the paint is flaked to primer and it's sat in the back yard so long that the rockers are underground. But damn! It's still apparently worth $5k.

We should all be rejoicing in this 2+2 and it's relatively unmolested condition.
Whoever bought that thing got a screaming deal.
